Fr Jack Hanlon
Father Jack was born in Dublin in 1913. He went to school in Belvedere College and continued his studies in U.C.D, Clonliffe and Maynooth. He exhibited at the R.H.A at the
tender age of 21. He became a regular exhibitor with the Water Colour Society of Ireland.
His dealer in Dublin was Victor Waddington with whom he had one man shows in the 1940 and 1950’s. 1n 1948 he was awarded the bronze medal at the art section of the Olympic Games.In 1962 he won the President Hyde Gold Medal at the Oireachtas Exhibition. There are more then fifty of his sketch books in the National Gallery of Ireland. His work is represented in many public and private collections in the country, including the National Gallery of Ireland and Limerick City Gallery of Art.
