Elizabeth Cope
“To express myself to myself…through the female subconscious.” Elizabeth Cope. Her surfaces are often rough, unfinished, even sloppy, with uneven textures and dripping paint. It could be said that the driving force behind her work is the belief in the validity of inner experience, which is a way of stressing that her freedom is continuous as the work progresses.
